In 2001, while on a mission trip in the mountains of North Carolina, God impressed upon us to establish a ministry. We felt God was leading us to share the Gospel through mission work starting in our local area and continuing throughout the world.
Following Acts 1:8,
“
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth,”
We came home and began making plans for Because He Lives Ministries. We started a ministry resource store in the back of an old warehouse and named it “The Mission Store.” We began to minister to the local residents. We were able to help individuals and families suffering from various crises including sickness and death, burnouts, unemployment, drug and alcohol addiction, and various personal needs. We wanted to offer more than physical help to hurting people. We shared the good news that the only way to find real help is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
We also began airing the Gospel message through a radio broadcast on two local stations. Next, we became a relay center for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse in Boone, North Carolina. Since this time, Because He Lives Ministries has filled nearly 5000 shoe boxes for needy boys and girls all around the world. We have also collected and delivered approximately 55,000 more shoe boxes to the Samaritans Purse processing center. A few years ago, we became burdened for the needy children in our area.
God led us to begin a new aspect of the ministry called Project “Help-a-child” which is a huge Christmas party for all the local needy children and their families. God has provided all the resources needed for His ministry including a large building for The Mission Store. He has also allowed us to extend our mission work to other areas of the world including Kentucky, Texas, Guatemala, South Korea, Mexico, and Haiti.
